  1. Arrive early.

  2. Bring all materials with you. (Pens, pencils, erasers and calculator with extra batteries.)

  3. Listen carefully to your instructor's directions and comments. -Instructors frequently announce changes in the test or emphasize instructions you may overlook.

  4. Look over the whole test. Read the directions carefully and highlight words that tell you what to do.

  5. Read the whole test first marking off the questions for which you know the answers. Do these first.

  6. Budget time according to marks given per question and total time allotted.

  7. Write down key facts or formulas in the margins so you don't forget this key information.

  8. Answer easy questions first. This will help build confidence, trigger recall of other of other answers and the materials you studied and give you points immediately.

  9. If you don't know an answer make a mark next to the question and try to complete it later.

  10. Guess on answers you don't know. You may pick up part marks.

  11. Use all the time that is allowed. If you finish early, check your papers for errors - do they make sense. Check spelling, punctuation, grammar.
